Outfit details:
Dress: Fahrenheit (from Jeannie). Earrings: gift from a student. Shoes: Target. Singlet: Ambra.
This is it for outfits for the year. Today was the very last day I had to be at school this year. YAY!!! The quartet I take was shocked at the start of term that they would only have a few more rehearsals, so they asked if they could be part of the celebration assembly (you know, the one where they get their certificates). The powers that be said sure, and so we had some more quartet time... and I got another day at school. Well, a few hours.
And even though I felt fairly horrible (who gets sick on the holidays, really?!), it was nice to be at school. I was given some lovely presents - including these earrings - and the assembly was pretty cute.
On the way home, I realised there was something glittery in my bag - my phone was covered in it. Later, I discovered the glitter gift tag...

On the way to school, these flowers were just catching the sun.

...Or Not
I confess, I didn't really change today. In fact, I feel I regressed. And I can see that it's because my life is a bit murky and undefined at present, a whole lot of unknown and not-black-and-white-ness.
A brief overview of today: slept in (by a lot - thankfully it's still holidays, kinda). Breakfast I felt very odd, and it seemed to take forever to make. As much as I've trained my parents, they still have some different ideas about where things belong, and making breakfast for more than me requires different timings. Yes, this throws me. Finished (maybe) a painting, had coffee, did the vacuuming, had lunch, went to the gym, bought more paint. Taught my Friday afternoon students, discovered my fingerboard is starting to come off yet again. Had a quick dinner and went to church, as it was a eucharist in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the ordination of women priests.
The only potential changes would have been the painting, and going to the gym straight after lunch. It's fairly quiet then (good) but there was what looked like a school group arriving (potentially not so good). And the 20th anniversary was a first, obviously.
Purple and green banners were hanging down the pillars, and there were green lights in the transepts, purple lights at the crossing.
People had been asked to wear green and purple for the event, and for the recent Synod, as these were the campaign colours. I'd heard a rumour a while back that the ordained women would wear purple shoes - what a great idea! I only spotted one pair, on our deacon Ann. I wish I'd had the opportunity to take the photo when she was still robed.
Today's photo:
As I was leaving, walking down Ann St through a very light misty rain, it looked like the Suncorp tower was glowing. Admittedly, it's a bit hard to tell here... But this is also the first mildly-successful night shot I've taken on the iPhone. I do like a rainy city night scene.

Matins, Raw Brownies, and the Balcony
I can't really claim Matins as a New Thing, even though this was my first experience (that I can remember, anyway). This morning, the 9:30 eucharist was replaced with Matins in celebration and commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second. I was not required for anything so it was nice to be 'unrobed' as one friend put it. Music was fabulous, of course.
The first real New Thing of the day was making raw brownies with my new food processor. Which is not technically a food processor... chopper and stick thingy. I was probably a little impatient with the chopping of the base (I had a time limit after all), so there are slightly bigger chunks of nuts than I would like. Next time. And I started eating a bit too soon, possibly, as the first row was very crumbly and had to be eaten from a bowl. With a spoon. The next row behaved beautifully though (and no, I wasn't eating all these by myself!).
Whenever my parents visit, things change. After some unintended (and some intended) changes to my courtyard area, I was tempted to visit a nursery yesterday and buy up big on plants. I didn't. I figured some preparation might go a long way. Especially as I seem to have lost my green thumb status in the last couple of years. So my balcony went from looking like this:
to this:
Ok, it probably doesn't look that impressive. But I've ditched the plants given to me by an ex, the vines that were really really dead, and the leftover bits of ... I don't even know what to call it... stuff from the disintegrated tv stand that I threw out last week. The plants that are left are still living, but need a bit of encouragement in the potting mix and fertilizer departments. The bonus is that my room looks calmer now. Next I need to get a bucket and wash the balcony, and ditch the lantern thing - any takers?
