Outfit #120 - Newspaper

I've been saving this bad joke for ages.  You know - what's black and white and red all over.  A newspaper.  Haha.

Dress (as a shirt): Sunny Girl (from Jeannie).  Skirt: Hot Options.  Singlet: Ambra.  Cardigan: Jeanswest.  Shoes: Target. Earrings: from Kuranda Markets, FNQ.

This was really a swapped-out outfit.  Originally, my plan was to wear the necklace I actually wore on Tuesday.  But I didn't remember to pick it up before I left.  I was also going to wear a new pair of earrings, but I felt the red was more appropriate. 

I was going to wear heels, but the thought of wearing them all around the school for junior kids... Just, no.  And I expected to have a cardigan on for a little bit, but not the whole day.  The camera caught me by surprise for the non-cardigan shot and I laughed when I saw it.

Outfit #75 - So Close

So close to holidays!!!  I just have one student at home tomorrow...and a Saturday morning full of them... and then I'm done!  I can't wait.

I also realise that this is an outfit very similar to at least one previous outfit.  After last night's run though (an old running top, sore arm skin), I wanted comfort.  This outfit has it in spades.  Plus, my little grade 2 said "ooh, I do love your shoes".  It was a pretty wonderful day - which included coming home to find my new running shoes waiting at the front door.  I can't wait to run in them!

Not exciting or artistic.  But I'd run out of yoghurt, so this morning's breakfast was a smoothie and a coffee.  And later, a piece of toast.  I seem to be developing an addiction to toast.  Which makes me feel like Thursday Next.

Outfit #70 - Soft

This was originally intended for tomorrow (longer skirt suitable for grade 3s, basically).  A chance message from a parent last night reminded me that tomorrow is group photos, so I changed my mind.  These photos happened really quickly once I got home from work, before the next group of students arrived.  None of the miracles that happened last Tuesday, that's for sure!

I don't wear these shoes enough - I do really like them!  I was very glad of the softness of this outfit today, I just felt a bit wobbly all day.

These seem to be the earrings for this skirt.  This photo is actually from a previous outfit - isn't recycling wonderful?  Despite my frequent wearings of this skirt, today received many compliments.

Outfit #64 - Early Mark

Today had to be one of those multi-tasking outfits.  Warm enough for getting to school.  Cool enough for getting home around lunchtime.  Modest enough for dealing with grade 3.  Layers are wonderful.  I actually wore another black, long-sleeved top of the same brand, my blue scarf, and a cardigan as well to get to school.

Despite feeling a bit drugged when I woke up (late night), I was still ready early enough to take photos before school.  And then, 3 of my kids were away so I got to have a super early mark.  Not the greatest photo of the earrings - they're little silver roses, quite sweet.

Yes, these are the same shoes as yesterday.  One foot is feeling a little precious so I'm playing it safe in flats.

And due to tonight's commitments, this is such an early post!

Outfit #51 - Columbia

Today is Columbia's national day, and after playing for their festivities on Saturday I decided to use their national colours for today's outfit.  Red, yellow and blue, that is.  This is the only yellow item I own, and not one I ever anticipated wearing to work as it's really casual wear.  The tiny sliver above the neckline was all that was visible. 

The earrings were the same from Saturday.

I contemplated doing the same hairstyle and adding the red flower, but I thought that might be a bit too much change for everyone.  As my hair is in that needing-to-be-washed stage I needed to do something though, so I did a couple of little plaits into the bun.  The last time I did something similar I remember it staying put like nothing else, and today was the same.  I must remember this.  It's good.  It got the tick of approval from the 9-yr-olds too.  It's really hard to photograph though, and maybe a bit more brushing (I see now) of the back bit would not go astray. 

The stocking and shoes combination was not so great though.  Probably won't repeat this one.

Nature is fascinating, isn't it?  The water appropriation methods of various plants can be so different, yet useful and appropriate.  I passed these agave plants with big shiny raindrops on the way back from the gym.

Outfit #46 - Folky

Outfit details:

I couldn't get the lighting right today, so we have a flash version and a non-flash version.  I think the colours are more accurate in the non-flash version, but the light has done some weird reflective thing for the top.  So you get both versions. 

This outfit was the result of several tries.  First I was going to wear plain stockings, but then I discovered a hole (they'd just come off the line so hadn't been sorted yet).  This outfit - maybe.  These stockings with a different skirt.  No.  Original stockings with pants - ugh.  Plus all my pants are too long right now and I didn't like the choice of dragging hems around or wearing heels.  So here we are: choice 2 for the second time.  Not quite as weird as I would have expected. 

The Salamanca Markets are fabulous.  I try to plan my Hobart trips so I have a full Saturday morning free to wander and, you know, support the local economy.  And that's why I really love them - they really are local and not a heap of imported stuff that you can buy in all the shopping centres.  Meeting the actual person who made the ceramics, or turned the wood, or wrote the book - it gives it something special.  Surprisingly, I think this is the first wearing of these earrings this year - they definitely had to be worn in such a folk sort of outfit.  They are slightly bathroom-tile-ish, but the first cello in the school ensemble leaned up to me and, with very big eyes, whispered she really likes them. 

Striped stockings weren't going to really cut it with this skirt - at least, not yet.  My last student saw them and actually came over and touched them, thinking at first they were boots, and then to check if they were actually knitted.  She's 10.
