Outfit details:
Skirt: Sunny Girl (op shop). Top: Ambra. Stockings: Target. Shoes: Sandler (from Jeannie). Earrings: Mombasa.
Finally, I own a pair of purple shoes. This had been eluding me forever, really, and I had started to notice the absence earlier this year. Thank you Jeannie! The first student I could teach today, all set up and ready to start playing, turned her head to say, "I like your shoes - and so would my sister!" (we've already established her sister has a thing for shoes). One of the girls in my ensemble after school, though, asked me why my shoes and stockings didn't match. "Do they need to match?" I asked her. Apparently yes, and apparently this combination doesn't. Personally I disagree but a) it's only for a day and b) I'm not going to take too much advice from 9-yr-olds. Besides, with their suede sort of finish they're more suited to winter, which has all but disappeared.
Finally, I'm feeling more like a real person again. Killer workout this morning (I looked, and felt, 'completely devo' at the end - if I'd been asked to do anything more than collapse there would have been problems) was a great start to the day. I still can't sing fantastically well higher than a G (the one above middle C) but there is promise. This didn't mean that I could take a not-scary photo of the earrings while they were on though.
Finally, spring is here. Ok, this isn't really a 'finally' moment as I live in Brisbane, and the last time I could wear jeans and t-shirt when it was dark was maybe 4 months ago. But I do enjoy seeing the green buds emerging on the deciduous trees.
I'm sure that these green bits were not yet present on Tuesday, so this gets to be today's photo.

Outfit #38 - The Swapped Skirt
Outfit details:
Skirt: Sinerji (swap). Singlet: Dotti. Tshirt: Ambra organic cotton. Shoes: Hot Options. Earrings: Mombasa.
When asked what was my favourite item of recycled clothing earlier this year, this skirt was it. I love it. Nearly every time I wear it, there is a positive comment from someone - the embroidery on the front is so peaceful. I scored it at a swap day - because I was considered a tall person (win!!). It is quite loose and comfy. And as its label claims it's sustainable and ethical I get warm fuzzies whenever I even look at it. Considering the number of wearings last year I was shocked that I waited until now to wear it to school this year.
Last Wednesday a student asked for a photo of my earrings. The same student was admiring this skirt and then saw the owl earrings - and asked for a photo of these earrings too. I don't think there was a particular reason this time, just that she likes that they are owls. Yet another 10-yr-old told me they were, like, almost like 3D...sooo cool...

Outfit #17 - Please Don't Rain On Me
This morning was one of those mornings. It's still really rainy weather, but the nights are cooler now also, so some things I hoped would dry overnight, didn't. Slightly mad morning rush. But I still left on time. Just as I was arriving at the station, I was enjoying the light that comes early morning, with dark rain clouds still lingering and the remainder of a recent drenching... and I realised I had no umbrella. I considered going back, but then I would miss the early train (which allows me to get a coffee on the way) as well as the later train. I decided to risk it, and crossed my fingers.

It rained several times throughout the day, and despite needing to collect little people and get to and from the office, it didn't actually rain on me. Well, not until I went running, and then I got drenched near the city.
Outfit:
Dress: Jeanswest (op shop). Belt: Target. Shoes: Pulp. Leggings: ? Earrings: Mombasa.

Today's outfit needed to be comfortable for a long day, as there was a school event in the afternoon. It fit the bill, nice and soft but not frumpy, smart enough to meet parents. These shoes are great for long days - the first time I wore them I had a 14 hour day, no blisters, no pain - all shoes should be like this. They are also my 'nearly autumn' shoes, which is how the weather is these days.

Outfit #13 - I'm in the Money
Today, I was cold for the first time in a while. The first time this year when I wished I'd worn stockings and packed a cardigan or something. Of course, we are in an almost-cyclone (which made tonight's run interesting).
Outfit details:
Dress (worn as a skirt): not sure (op shop). Shirt: Miss Shop (from Jeannie). Belt: Target. Shoes: Pulp. Owl earrings: Mombasa.
I bought this dress on a rainy day last December. I haven't had much luck at the op shop at Toowong, but a friend has found some fantastic things. A sign out the front tempted us with 50% off (selected items), so inside we went. A brown velvet dress (yet to be worn - we decided I'd buy it and we'd work out how to style it later), a long green maxi dress, and this green dress were my purchases. But then I had problems with this green dress. It feels really nice when on, but the top sits really oddly. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, and nearly put it in my giveaway pile - then I saw someone wearing a shirt over a dress. Voila! Styling success. Belt required at waist, otherwise I look like a bag, but not a waste of a dress.

The print of the dress is all money notes. At first I thought it was US dollars, but on closer inspection it appears to be from all over the world. Hence my feeling of being in the money...
